지난번 캠핑 실패 후기로부터 이어지는 이야기예요.
칼바위 폭포나 팔봉 폭포에서 해 뜨는 거, 해 지는 거 보겠다는 제 소박한 소원은 결국 이루어지지 않았지만...ㅎㅎ
그래도 이번엔 괜찮았어요. 제가 이 시간을 얼마나 즐겼는지, 읽는 분들도 함께 느껴지면 좋겠어요 :)

This is a continuation of my first failed attempt at camping—when my sunrise and sunset dreams at Kalbawi Falls or Palbong Falls didn’t quite happen. But all is well now. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed living (and writing) this unforgettable experience.

 

처음엔 수주팔봉 주차장에 잠깐 멈췄어요. 남편이랑 근처 캠핑장을 찾아보려고요.
‘근처 캠핑장 많다’고 했지만... 현실은 네이버랑 구글이 알려주는 길로는 다 좀 멀더라고요;;
남편이 카이로스 캠핑장을 골랐는데, 이미 예상보다 한 시간쯤 더 가야 했어요.
그래도 어쩌겠어요, 가야죠 뭐 ㅎㅎ
근데 왜 그랬는지 지금도 잘 모르겠지만, 남편이 운전하는 동안 자꾸 다른 데를 찾아보게 되더라고요.
그러다 발견한 게 캠피808!
카이로스 캠핑장에서 15분 정도 더 가야 했지만… 이상하게 확 끌렸어요.
그래서 급하게 남편한테 “캠핑장 바꾸자!”고 했죠.
카이로스 캠핑장님, 미안해요. 다음엔 꼭 갈게요~
 
We first stopped at the parking lot of 수주팔봉 while my husband and I searched for a nearby campsite.
When I say “many campsites,” in reality... they were all kind of far—at least according to Google and Naver directions.
My husband picked 카이로스 캠핑장, which was already about an hour farther than we’d hoped. But of course, we had to go with it.
For some reason (and I still don’t really know why), I kept checking other places on my phone while he was driving.
And that’s when I stumbled upon 캠피808. It was just a bit farther than 카이로스—maybe 15 more minutes?
I quickly told my husband to change our destination.
Sorry, 카이로스 캠핑장. We’ll visit you next time, promise!

 
캠핑장 들어가는 길은 좀 가파르게 내려가야 했지만, 금방 도착했어요. 거기서 캠핑장 매니저님을 만났는데… 엄청 바빠 보이시더라고요 ㅎㅎ 우리는 I구역을 쓰라고 하셨어요. 원래는 텐트 두 개용 자리라고 해요. 남편이 평일 요금인 65,000원을 지불했어요. 주말에는 무려 130,000원! 월요일 캠핑의 특권이죠? ^^ 오른쪽에는 무료 바베큐 그릴 공간이랑 작은 매점도 있어요.
 
The road to this campsite was a bit steep going downhill, but we got there pretty quickly. That’s where we met the manager—he looked super busy. He told us to use the I-area, which is usually meant for two tents.
My husband paid the weekday price: 65,000 won. On weekends, it’s 130,000. Ah, the perks of camping on a Monday.^^
There’s a free barbecue grilling area and a small store on the right side of the site.

 
정말 한적했어요. 뭐… 월요일이니까요. 주말엔 절대 이렇게 안 비어 있겠죠 ㅎㅎ
 
It was really empty. I mean, it’s Monday — no way it looks like this on the weekend.

 
와! 처음 본 호수 풍경—너무 예뻐요! 근데 솔직히 저기 큰 텐트 두 개… 살짝 부러웠어요. 너무 편해 보였거든요 ㅎㅎ
말로 설명은 잘 안 되지만, 고요한 물 위에 배가 떠 있는 그 모습이… 괜히 마음이 차분해졌어요.
 
Ah! The first sight of the lake — it’s so pretty! I have to admit, I was a little envious of those two big tents. They looked so comfortable. I can’t quite explain it, but just seeing that boat floating on the still water… it really calmed me.
 

 
그다음 우리 자리로 갔어요. 샤워실, 주방, 화장실이 한 곳에 모여 있어서 편리했어요. 재활용 쓰레기통은 왼쪽에 있었고요.
캠핑장 상태가 잘 관리돼서 깨끗했어요.

Then we headed to our spot. The shower, kitchen, and restrooms are all conveniently located in one area.
The recycling bins are on the left. The campsite is well-maintained and really clean.

 
그리고 여기 우리 자리였어요 — 샤워실이랑 주방 바로 앞에 있는 I구역. 오가기도 편해서 참 마음에 들었죠. 우리가 여기랑 맞은편에 있던 두 팀 캠퍼 외에는 아무도 없어서, 호숫가의 천국 같았어요… 아니, 어쩌면 호수 위의 천국이었을지도요?
 

And here was our spot — the I-area, right in front of the shower and kitchen. It was a comfortable spot because it was easy to go back and forth. Since there was no one else here except us and two other campers on the other side, it felt like heaven by the lake… or maybe on the lake?

 

저 아름다운 나무 좀 봐요—그늘이 돼서 뜨거운 햇빛을 막아줬어요. 💖 수액도 막 흘러나오고 있더라고요.
 
Just look at this beautiful tree—its canopy sheltered us from the heat of the sun. 💖 You can even see its resin oozing out.

 
남편이 고른 의자예요. 잘 골랐죠? 싸구려 다이소 의자 안 산 게 다행이에요. ^^ 나무에 개미가 엄청 많았어요.
근데 의외로 벌레도 별로 없고 모기도 없고, 나비들이 주로 날아다녔어요. 다시 그 풍경 보니까 발이 또 가고 싶어지네요.
 
These were my husband’s chosen chairs. Good call — I’m glad I didn’t buy that cheap Daiso chair. ^^
So many ants were crawling on the tree. Surprisingly, not many bugs and no mosquitoes—mostly butterflies fluttering around. Just looking at the view again makes my feet itch to come back.
 

수주팔봉에서 실망한 뒤라서 더 평화롭게 느껴졌어요. 근데 솔직히 말하면, 수주팔봉이 열렸더라면 이곳을 몰랐을 거예요. 아래 빨간 것들은 카약이었어요. 여기서 카약을 탈 수 있다는 걸 늦게 알았죠. 다음에 한 번 타봐야겠어요!
 
It looked so peaceful after the disappointment of 수주팔봉. But honestly, if 수주팔봉 had been open, we wouldn’t have known about this place. Those red things below were kayaks. We found out late that we could actually kayak here.

텐트는 남편이 설치했어요 — 아니, 이건 인정해야겠어요. 텐트는 제가 골랐어요! 자동 설치 텐트라서 그냥 열면 팡! 하고 펴져요 ㅎㅎ 왜 이걸 골랐냐면요, 솔직히 말해서 제가 캠핑을 좋아할지도 모르겠고, 괜히 비싼 텐트 샀다가 안 쓰게 되면 아깝잖아요. 그래서 그냥 이걸로!
그리고… 파라솔 대참사ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 남편이 파라솔은 챙겨왔는데, 봉 연결하는 부품을 깜빡했지 뭐예요. 바람 불 때마다 넘어지고, 막 날아가고 ㅠㅠㅠ 그 두 팀 캠퍼들은 우리를 보면서 무슨 생각했을지…ㅋㅋ 그래도 파라솔 덕분에 햇빛은 잘 막아줬어요.
남편아, 가져와 줘서 고마워~

 

My husband set up the tent — okay, I’m owning this — I chose the tent. It’s an automatic pop-up type. You just open it and poof! It’s up. Why did I choose this one? Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I’d even like camping. I didn’t want to spend too much on a high-end tent if I wasn’t going to do it again. So yeah… that’s why.
Also, bloopers with the parasol — hahahaha. My husband brought it… but forgot the pipe connector to attach it to the stand. The wind kept blowing it over! I wonder what those two other campers were thinking, watching us chase the parasol around ㅠㅠㅠ Still, I’m glad he brought it — it really helped block the sun.

 
이게 바로… 초보 캠퍼의 슬픈(?) 식탁 세팅입니다 ㅋㅋ 점심시간 훌쩍 지나서, 해물파전 안 상하게 빨리 먹어야 했어요.
그리고… 잠깐만요. 저거 진짜 화장지 가져왔나요? ㅠㅠㅠ
 
Here’s our sad little table setup — first-time camper style. It was already past lunchtime, and we had to eat or else the 해물파전 would go bad. Also… wait a second. Did I seriously bring out toilet tissue? ㅠㅠ

 
아아… 뷰 맛집이 따로 없죠.  Ahh… a restaurant with a view.

 
너무 평화롭네요. 배도 부르니 이제는 그냥 편하게 앉아서 좋아하는 간식 타임~ 날씨도, 풍경도 너무 예쁘고,
마음이 꽉 찬 기분이에요. 이런 순간을 누릴 수 있어서 참 감사해요. 우리의 선택적(?) 캠핑 2차 도전, 성공입니다 :)
 
So peaceful. Now that my belly’s full, it’s time to relax and enjoy my favorite snack. Beautiful weather. Beautiful view.
My heart feels full. I’m so thankful for this moment — our spontaneous second attempt at camping.

 
한참 앉아 있으니까 좀 심심해졌어요. 주변을 둘러보다가 이곳을 발견했죠. 왜 닫혀 있었을까요?
살짝 올라가 보는 미니 등산도 좋았을 텐데요.
 
After a while, we got bored of just sitting around. We looked around and found this spot.
I wonder why it was closed — it would’ve been nice to do a mini hike up there.

 
이 풍경… 자꾸 봐도 질리지 않아요. 계속 슬쩍슬쩍 올려서 죄송해요ㅎㅎ 근데 정말 어쩔 수가 없네요!
I just can’t get over this view. Sorry, I keep sneaking it in — I can’t help it!

 
저녁 시간이에요. 소박한 세팅, 소박한 음식, 그리고 놀라운 풍경. 이 순간이 참 축복 같아요.
 
Time for dinner. Simple setup, simple food, amazing view — what a blessing.
 

 
호숫가의 밤, 정말 아름다웠어요. 어두워지기 시작하니까 남편이 에어매트를 꺼내서 깔았어요.
그리고… 또 하나의 초보 캠퍼 실수! 에어매트가 텐트보다 더 큰 거 있죠 ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ
 
What a beautiful night by the lake. As it started getting dark, my husband set up the air mat.
And… another first-time camper blooper: The air mat was bigger than the tent. ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

 

호숫가의 밤… 왜 이렇게 아름답고 또 묘한 감성이 느껴질까요? 포터블 숯 캠프파이어 화로를 가져왔는데, 숯을 깜빡했어요.
캠핑장 매점에서 장작을 사볼까 했지만, 남편이 화로에 비해 너무 작다고 하더라고요. 그래서… 다음 기회로 미뤘어요.
그래도 불꽃이 앞에 피어 있는 상태로 호수를 바라보는 모습을 상상했죠. 밤에 자연 불빛을 보는 게 눈도 편안하게 하고 숙면에도 도움이 된다고 해요. 이건 꼭 해보고 싶은 버킷리스트에 추가합니다.
 
Ahh, a night by the lake. Why is it so beautiful… and a little haunting?
I brought a portable charcoal campfire pit, but we forgot to buy charcoal. I thought about buying wood from the campsite store, but my husband said it was too small for the fire pit. Ah well, maybe next time.
Still, I imagined sitting there with a fire glowing in front of me, looking out over the lake. Apparently, watching a natural fire pit at night helps your eyes relax and supports better sleep. I’m adding this to my bucket list of things to do.

 
굿모닝! 잘 잤냐고요? 절대 아니에요. 원인이 에어매트였냐고? 당연하죠.
텐트 안에 넣으려고 에어매트를 이렇게 접어 ‘U’자 모양으로 만들었답니다. 🤣🤣🤣
자연스럽게 남편이랑 저는 서로 반대편에 누워서 자꾸 중간으로 굴러갔어요. 🤣 게다가 에어매트는 완전히 바람도 못 채웠는데, 그래야 겨우 텐트 안에 들어가니까요. 그래서 다음 날 등과 어깨가 다 아팠죠. 자갈 바닥도 한 몫 했고요 — 진짜 울 뻔했어요. ㅠㅠ
그래도 그만한 가치가 있었냐고? 네! 다시 할 거냐고? 당연히요! 근데 남편 반응은? “아냐, 텐트 더 큰 걸 사야 해.” 😂
 
Good morning! Did we sleep well? Nope. Was it because of the air mat? Absolutely.
We had to fit that huge air mat so much that it folded into a “U” shape inside the tent. 🤣🤣🤣
Naturally, my husband and I ended up sleeping on opposite sides and kept rolling toward the middle. 🤣
It didn’t help that the air mat wasn’t fully inflated because it wouldn’t fit inside the tent otherwise.
So yeah, our backs and shoulders were sore the next morning. The pebble ground didn’t help either — I swear I cried a little. ㅠㅠ Was it worth it? Yes. Will I do it again? Absolutely.
My husband’s response? “No way, we need a bigger tent.” 😂

 
아아… 이게 내 아침 감성이에요 — 호숫가에서 보는 일출! 근데 텐트 옆이랑 에어매트 밑에 물이 스며 있었어요.
옷이 좀 젖은 걸 왜 이제야 알았을까요? ㅋㅋ 텐트가 방수가 안 돼서 밤새 결로가 생겼나 봐요. 하하하, 이러니까 초보 캠핑러 티가 나죠… 실수는 계속된다~
 
Ahhh… this is my morning vibe — sunrise by the lake. Then we found water seeping on the sides of the tent and under the air mat. How did we not realize our clothes were a bit wet? It must have been night condensation since our tent isn’t waterproof. Hahaha, the bloopers never end…
 

 
인생 참 좋다, 이런 풍경이 있으니까. 사실 저는 해지는 시간이 더 좋긴 한데, 이번 일출은 정말 특별했어요 —
주황색과 노란색의 여러 빛깔이 어우러져서. 정말 사랑스러운 아침이었어요.
 
Life is good. Everything feels right with a view like this. Honestly, I’m more of a sunset person,
but this sunrise was something special — with its beautiful shades of orange and yellow. Such a lovely morning.

 

드디어 버킷리스트 하나 완료! 아침으로 라면 먹고, 커피 마시면서 뷰 감상하기. 아~ 이게 바로 인생이지요.
근데 몇 시간 지나서 제 위 상태는… 음, 여러분은 그냥 넘어가 줄게요 ㅋㅋ
 
Finally, I checked off my bucket list: eating 라면 for breakfast, with coffee and a view. Sigh* This is life.
My stomach a few hours later… well, I’ll spare you the details. 😅

 
샤워는 못 했어요. 잠을 제대로 못 자서 새벽 4시에 일어났는데, 샤워실은 문이 닫혀 있었거든요.
이제 떠날 시간이었어요. 저는 못 가고 싶었죠 — 초보 캠퍼의 공감 느낌? ㅋㅋㅋ
근데 남편은 완전 달랐어요. 집에 빨리 가서 거기서 씻으라고 하더라고요.
눈 깜짝할 사이에 다 싸버리고 ㅋㅋ
 
We didn’t shower. Since we didn’t sleep well, we woke up at 4 a.m. And the shower room was closed.
It was time to go. I didn’t want to leave — same feelings as any first-time camper, right? Hahaha.
But my husband had a different view. He couldn’t wait to get back home and told me to just shower there.
He packed everything in the blink of an eye!

 
충주호를 떠나며 — 보고 싶을 거예요… On the way out of 충주호 — I will miss you…

 
휴게소에 잠깐 들렀어요 — 누구나 그러잖아요? ㅋㅋ 가던 길에 제 최애 간식도 샀고요. We stopped at a rest stop — I mean, who doesn’t? Haha. Bought my favorite snack for the road.
 
첫 캠핑 소감:

• 그냥 쉬러 오기엔 좀 (배) 위험할 수도 있겠어요.
• 먹은 양 생각하면 근처에서 미니 하이킹이라도 했어야 했는데요.
• 사진 수는 수백 장이어도 부족해요.
• 장비는 단촐했고, 에어매트 대참사는 있었지만,
• 그래도 잊지 못할 추억이었어요.
• 첫 캠핑은 이래야 제맛이죠!

 
Thoughts on our first camping:

• It’s a little (belly) dangerous if you just come to relax.
• With all the food I ate, I probably should’ve done a mini hike around the area.
• A gazillion pictures still aren’t enough.
• Even though our camping gear was simple and the air mat was a total fiasco,
• it was memorable.
• I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way for a first camping attempt.
